Essay Contest
Sponsored by Optimist International, the annual Essay Contest gives young people a dedicated platform to express their thoughts, beliefs, and unique viewpoints about the world around them. The Optimist Club of Milwaukee invites local students to sharpen their written communication skills and compete for college scholarships.
Official Topic
“Finding My Voice in a World Full of Noise”
Participants may approach the theme through personal experience, national perspectives, or historical insight, examining how young leaders discover authenticity, purpose, and impact amid the distractions and pressures of today's world.
Scholarship & Awards
- Club Level: Local winners are recognized by the club and submitted to the District level.
- District Level: Top essayists compete for a $2,500 college scholarship and an official Optimist International engraved plaque.
Contest Guidelines & Eligibility
- Eligibility: Open to youth under the age of 19 (as of October 1st of the current contest year) who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent.
- Format: Essays must be between 700 and 800 words, written specifically on the official topic.
